BIM Champion of the Year

This award recognises a BIM lead (Manager or Senior Manager) from the construction value chain who is a BIM pioneer and role model in their organisation. The winner will be able to demonstrate how they have successfully impacted their organisation’s approach to strategy, planning and management of BIM projects and processes. They should have a track record in BIM use, for example in design processes, supply chain coordination, scheduling, cost control, sustainability or operations & maintenance, and have led the implementation of at least one BIM initiative/project in the last 24 months.

Abeer Taysir Garadah

MSCEB

Abeer is MSCEB's BIM Manager with over five years of experience in architecture and an additional four years in BIM Management.

Since joining MSCEB, Abeer has undertaken a substantial endeavor of standardising all BIM processes within the office as a means of enhancing BIM workflows, efficiency and coordination in all aspects of project production and delivery across all disciplines within the office.

This includes but is not limited to creating strategies for BIM projects within the office and documenting their procedures, creation and enhancement of BIM libraries, creation of project templates, generation of guides and manuals to ensure BIM standards are followed, conducting model reviews and clash detection, and training staff to improve efficiency in projects.

Abeer’s contribution and leadership within the BIM environment has helped enhance project production within the office in terms of speed, efficiency, coordination and accuracy. More than 20 projects have been implemented with a standardised BIM process and project workflow throughout the past four years.

Amr Saad

ROSHN Real Estate

Amr Saad is a change management expert, specialising in BIM & information management, digital engineering, and construction, keenly focusing on digital transformation. He has a proven track record of delivering successful projects, including iconic buildings and massive infrastructure developments for various firms. Amr is known for devising digital excellence strategies and spearheading their implementation, ensuring data-driven decision-making from planning to operation.

He is dedicated to promoting sustainable and innovative practices, adopting a customer-centric approach, and fostering stakeholder collaboration.

Currently, Amr leads BIM and information management functions for ROSHN, a real estate portfolio under the Saudi Sovereignty Fund (PIF). With experience in implementing BIM using ISO19650, Amr contributes to the industry through his participation as a speaker at public events, collaborating with international organisations to raise awareness and transform the AEC industry.

Amr's industry experience spans roles at ROSHN Real Estate, AECOM Middle East, and Salini Impregilo (We Build), working on high-profile projects such as Al-Bayt FIFA Stadium. His knowledge encompasses digital engineering, information management, and asset management.

Elaf AlKattan

Saudi Entertainment Ventures

Elaf Kattan is the Senior Program BIM Manager across the Portfolio of Seven's 22 entertainment destinations. In his position, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership in driving digital initiatives that have significantly impacted Seven's project design and delivery processes. His contributions to Seven's BIM and Digital Data Management framework have been instrumental in positioning the organisation as a leader in the entertainment industry.

As a structured and critical thinker, Elaf led the development of Seven's Asset Breakdown Structure, laying the foundation for the development of Asset Information Requirements. His expertise and skills were pivotal in the creation of a set of strategic and procurement documents that have guided Seven's digital transformation journey.

Elaf's efforts in the implementation of Autodesk Construction Cloud were phenomenal, resulting in the successful digitisation of over 13 processes related to Quality and HSE. His contributions have streamlined Seven's operations, improving the safety and quality of project delivery, and enhancing the company's competitive position in the market.

Overall, Elaf's leadership and expertise have been invaluable to Seven's success, and his dedication and commitment to driving digital transformation serve as a model for the industry.

Jason North

Robert Bird Group

Jason North, Group BIM Lead, is critical to Robert Bird Groups’ (RBG) strategic direction and BIM growth. Since joining RBG in 2017, Jason has worked in all levels of BIM roles including Technician, BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager and now Global BIM Lead across the Group. This practical hands-on experience on projects has given Jason a deep understanding of the information management functions required at each level, and awareness of the pitfalls and challenges faced by delivery teams.

With an open, collaborative and growth mindset, Jason’s strategic direction for BIM adoption is rooted in the core concept that information management is a strategic priority for everyone in the business. It’s central to how we deliver our projects and should be embraced by all stakeholders and not considered a separate workstream or business unit.

Through this lens, Jason leads teams and projects by example, promoting upskilling, knowledge sharing and collaborative working both internally and with our clients and delivery partners.

Mohammad Imran

Shapoorji Pallonji Mid East LLC

Imran has been a veteran in the implementation and standardization of BIM across many organizations and projects. He has recently delivered a FIFA Stadium 974 which gained popularity across the world for its unique design and construction. Using the principles of Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DfMA), Imran first led the design team to develop a comprehensive BIM strategy and then provided direction for the construction and handover of the project.

He has been at the forefront in educating the industry about the use of new technologies and has developed several modules to train professionals at various levels for the proper understanding of BIM and its uses. His research and presentation on BIM in Contracts have been widely referenced and used.

A recent publication by Imran on LinkedIn about Element Interaction Matrix received huge acceptance from across the industries ranging from academics to CEOs of various design and construction companies. The publication was reshared by more than 55 professionals and received a viewership of more than 50k people. Imran’s recent focus has been in the use of AI in the design and construction and how it is going to redefine BIM in the context of generative design and project management.

Mahmoud Najmeddine

Khatib & Alami

Mahmoud Najmeddine is a BIM manager at Khatib & Alami. His career journey is one of hard work and dedication, starting as an electrical CAD operator 25 years ago, and rising through the ranks to his current position as infrastructure leader of BIM implementation across K&A's four design centers.

When K&A decided to implement BIM, Mahmoud took on the challenge of leading the knowledge transfer, shaping the entire process. Having started his career with K&A, Mahmoud rejoined the company in October 2019 to lead the BIM implementation knowledge of the infrastructure sector, which includes the water, environment, bridges, and distribution. His pioneering mindset and advanced computing skills have enabled him to develop a BIM-centric climate that has revolutionised the infrastructure sector and improved the company's overall workflow efficiency.

Mahmoud manages the training plan for the infrastructure teams, provides civil 3D and BIM training sessions, and manages libraries and civil 3D templates, following BIM best practices. He has successfully trained over 400 engineers and technicians across our design centers, allowing the company to develop projects faster and more accurately. Mahmoud is a genuine BIM leader, who has dedicated his career to driving excellence and making a positive impact.

Mostafa Elashmawy

WSP

Mostafa Elashmawy is Senior BIM & GIS Manager at WSP Middle East, acting as the Digital Lead of the Project Management Services Business Unit, providing Digital Delivery Management for some of the most significant construction projects in the Middle East.

Mostafa has a Master’s in Global BIM Management and is certified by many respectful information management organisations. He also has a deep academic knowledge of International Standards, Methods, and Procedures related to Information Management. He uses his knowledge and experience to implement BIM and provide digitisation strategies for his organisation and clients.

Mostafa graduated as a Civil/Structural engineer and worked as a coordinator for other disciplines. He has in-depth knowledge of architectural, landscape and MEP works, which helped him work as a global BIM Manager. During the last 10 years he worked on many of the most significant construction projects in the Middle East, delivering, coordinating, and managing BIM, GIS, and CAD deliverables.

Mostafa has an excellent voluntary record as he leads and contributes to many regional and international initiatives related to the development of BIM, data management and digitisation of the AEC industry, focusing on the Middle East and Arabic community.

Omar Ahmed

China State Construction Engineering Corporation Middle East

Omar has more than 12 years experience of engineering and construction in building structures and significant experience in BIM, starting from pre-tendering to the handover stage.

Omar has been involved in a wide range of construction projects, including large-scale high-rise and mega projects such as residential, commercial, civil, airports, educational, cultural, sports arenas, infrastructures and perceivable buildings all over the world. He has used BIM for projects coordination and helped cost control on numerous buildings for prominent clients. Omar has been involved in about 20 projects.

Most recently, Omar contributed through BIM to the Marina Vista Towers project, which had a LOD 500 requirement. Previously, he was engaged with the prestigious Dubai Creek Harbour. Omar has extensively engaged with mega landmarks in the GCC with an excellent performance and implementation of BIM.

Rachel Rosas Alcantara

BESIX

Rachel is BIM Manager at Besix. Her professional background spans more than a decade in different parts of the world including the UAE, Qatar, Thailand, and Philippines. Seven of those years have been spent in the Middle East.

Her expertise and dedication together with her teamwork are key elements to deliver successfully iconic projects from tender until handover. She provides full support, leadership, and expertise with respect to the BIM process and as per the project requirements. She motivates the team to exploit the full potential of available technology within the market.

Rachel stays updated with new technologies that will benefit the organisation. Because business is constantly changing, she continues to explore innovative techniques to improve. Rachel has obtained several certifications in order to excel in her chosen field of BIM. She is Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Autodesk Professional and holds Tekla Advance Certification.

Rachel is a Professional Engineering Manager of the American Society for Engineering Management. In her professional organization PICE, she is a regular resource speaker on BIM topics and offers numerous BIM training sessions within Besix organisation to keep the team updated with the latest software and tools related to BIM.
