ConTech Leader of the Year

This award recognises a leader from the construction value chain (Senior Manager and above) who is a pioneer and role model in their organisation for digital technology adoption and success in the built environment. The winner will be able to demonstrate how they have successfully impacted the organisation’s approach to strategy, planning and management of digital technology initiatives that have enhanced AEC projects or processes. They should have a track record of innovation and have led the implementation of at least one technology initiative in the last 24 months.

Dr. Marwan AbuEbeid

Turner Construction International

Dr. Marwan Abu Ebeid is an expert in driving digital transformation in the construction industry. With his innovative use of technologies such as IoT and blockchain integration, Marwan has made a global impact on industry enterprise levels, expense tracking, innovation, and automation, leading to unprecedented growth and advancement.

He has spearheaded major construction projects, including the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Presidential Palace. In recognition of his work, he received the Excellence and Creative Engineering Award in UAE and authored two chapters of the National Smart Construction Guidelines for the entire UAE Government.

As a keynote speaker at over 20 global events, Marwan has shared his expertise and paved the way for other companies to use ground-breaking technology in their construction processes. He serves as a founding member of the UK-funded Center of Excellence Research Centre and is on the board of the Society of Engineers in UAE – Digital Engineering Chapter, as well as an Advisory Board Member for the American University of Sharjah.

Marwan holds a Ph.D. and Master of Science in Construction Project Management from Heriot Watt University, and certificates in Driving Digital Strategy from Harvard University and Digital Transformation from MIT.

Hussam Ali

Hussam has been an integral part of RoshnConTech since its inception. He has been instrumental in developing and launching innovative solutions that have helped Roshn grow and expand its offerings. His leadership and expertise is paving the way, in a collaborative approach, to enable Roshn to become a leader in the ConTech industry.

He has been responsible for creating a culture of collaboration and innovation within the organisation, allowing for the development of creative solutions to complex business and community challenges.

Hussam has also been a mentor and speaker in the real estate industry, sharing his knowledge and experience with others. He has been a driving force to reach success of RoshnConTech, helping to make it a leader in the industry. He has been at the forefront of adapting and enabling new technologies, products and services, as well as pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

His efforts is to catapult Roshn as major player in the real estate technology sector. Hussam's contribution to the company has been invaluable, and his achievements are something that should be celebrated.

Mansour Faried as CSCEC ME’s Chief Engineer and member of Senior Management is an exemplary construction technology leader.

His guiding principle is “No one achieves greatness on their own”, where teamwork is highly regarded in strategically hitting predefined targets. He demonstrates leadership skills combined with his innovative and technological approach in solving business challenges. These set him apart in a highly competitive sector.

He finds ways to optimise the talents of his valued team towards a positive inertia of innovating and changing ways of working. He has established a dynamic work environment where his initiatives have tangibly tried and tested creative, viable solutions that are beneficial and sustainable, and have a long-term impact to our business.

His focus is always the bigger picture of technology, to ensure he is on top of the constant changes and new developments. He currently takes the lead in realising the four pillars of CSCEC ME’s journey in digital transformation through Automation, Digitalisation, Offsite Construction and Green Construction. He consistently sets his sights on how he can contribute not only to our organization but also to the wider construction industry

Mohammad Al Ktaishat

AECOM

Originally from Jordan, Mohammad embarked on his higher education journey in Lebanon, studying Civil Engineering. During this time, he was offered an exclusive opportunity to become his BIM professor’s assistant. Provided with valuable mentoring, Mohammad realised the power of digital tools in the industry

After graduating, Mohammad relocated to the UAE. Starting his career at Parsons International as a civil engineer intern, he was given opportunities to solve challenges in a fast-paced environment. After a year, Mohammad focused his technological passions and joined BIM ME. In this consultant role, he provided strategic advice to those seeking to replace traditional project delivery. Here he became a trusted advisor for multi-disciplinary engineering companies.

Three years later, Mohammad was approached by AECOM to lead digital delivery. Over the last seven years, he has worked on large-scale-projects with some of the region’s most influential developers.

Mohammad is a key placement on digital strategy projects. He is a trusted advisor internally for global strategy and externally, providing a consultancy offering assisting clients with innovative solutions all driven by technology. His latest achievement was becoming the digital lead for a confidential mega-project in Saudi Arabia – a huge achievement and clear evidence of his vision and value.

Khodr El Kurdi

El-Seif Engineering Contracting

Over the past five years, Khodor has become a thought-leader in the fields of engineering, digital engineering, and research and development at El-Seif Engineering and Contracting.

He has successfully implemented innovative techniques such as BIM and digital construction to address common issues in the construction industry, resulting in increased productivity and quality improvements. Khodor has a particular talent for finding technical solutions to construction challenges using modern technology.

Since joining El-Seif as Corporate Engineering Director, he has spearheaded significant changes throughout the company, applying an innovation philosophy and investing in research & development for design and modern construction technology.

Khodor has brought advanced technologies such as Scan to BIM, 4D and 5D modeling to El-Seif, enabling the construction team to better manage time and costs. He has played a pivotal role in El-Seif's off-site engineering and modular buildings initiatives and helped the company obtain the BIM ISO certification 19650, making it the first construction company in Saudi Arabia to receive this recognition.

Paul Mullett

Robert Bird Group

Paul has led RBG’s digital transformation since 2018, when he identified the opportunities and risks facing the business and successfully lobbied leadership for a team and budget to drive change. Since then, he has built a team of 25 people with responsibilities for BIM, VDC, data, computational design and software development, created networks and communities within RBG to encourage innovation and knowledge sharing, and has raised the awareness and profile of digital throughout the business and to the top of the business’s priority list.

The outcome has been a wave of digital uptake and upskilling, resulting in a huge, global increase in applied digital tools, increased productivity and added value to projects. Two of the largest groupwide initiatives are Magpie – a BIM Dashboard providing multiple insights to stakeholders on BIM model quality, material quantities and embodied carbon, and Reveal – an interactive 4D VDC visualisation tool built using Unity which is accessible to clients via a web-portal.

Paul is an active industry participant and advocate for change conducting multiple talks, writing articles/papers/chapters and more recently a book ‘Innovation in Construction: A Practical Guide to Transforming the Construction Industry’.

Arsen Safaryan

Saudi Entertainment Ventures

Arsen, as the Director of Information and Data Management, has demonstrated leadership in driving a transformational change within Saudi Entertainment Ventures (Seven). He envisioned and implemented a new strategy to revolutionise the way Seven manages design and construction information across all 22 entertainment destinations and associated projects.

He initiated this transformation by developing a comprehensive digital project delivery framework comprising Exchange Information Requirements, Asset Information Requirements, and contributions to the overall digital strategy of Seven. He also established a team of digital project delivery champions with diverse expertise, ranging from design management to delivery and site management, as well as application development and automation.

Under Arsen's guidance, Seven has experienced a significant shift in the way it receives, processes, and manages critical project data. His leadership has ensured that Seven is at the forefront of digital transformation in the entertainment industry, setting new standards for project delivery and efficiency.

Christopher Smeaton

KEO

As the Digital Lead of InSite, Chris is responsible for transforming how we implement BIM, strategic planning, and standardisation of processes and digital advisory to help clients become future-ready.

He works with professionals across the business to enhance the way they design and implement integrated solutions across core digital competencies, including visualisation, data analytics, digital modeling, computational design, information management, and solution development.

Chris applies his 16 years of experience across Europe, Asia, and GCC with relevant industry and technical know-how to help clients rethink their planning, strategy, and business processes, create connected digital platforms and improve their analytics and collaboration. Chris leads InSite and KEO in the way we work, how we share knowledge, collaborate and communicate to improve whole-life performance on every project delivered to clients.

Though only part of InSite for a year, he has forged industry partnerships to enhance our digital capability and developed new service offerings such as digital twinning, digital advisory services, smart city implementation, and new software solutions for the region.

Chris is the Women in BIM regional lead and sits on the RMIT University Industry Advisory Board.
