
Alex I. Albani is an architect, a CAD/BIM specialist, and an academic with over 22 years of international experience. He started his career teaching computer applications in architecture at the University of California at Berkeley. Afterward, he worked as a store designer for Gap Inc., Louis Vuitton, and Mexx. He later joined the American University in Dubai with the purpose of integrating BIM into academia.
Alex gained valuable experience in CAD/BIM and design/build through projects involving the creation of design/construction standards, policies, and managing technology transformations in multinational corporations. While his architecture portfolio primarily consists of retail projects in the UK, France, Germany, Japan, and the Middle East, it also includes residential, civic, and office projects in the USA.
Alex has made significant contributions in academia by developing courses on digital design and fabrication technologies. He is certified as a Revit for Architectural Design Professional and as an Autodesk Instructor. Alex actively advocates for BIM professional certification and regularly speaks at events related to digital design. He holds the role of Continuing Education Director for the AIA ME and has received recognition for his teaching excellence, including the AUD President’s Award and the AUD Provost’s Award for Innovative Teaching.
