
Dr Seyed Ghaffar is a Chartered Civil Engineer and a Fellow member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng, FICE). Additionally, he holds membership in the Institute of Concrete Technology (MICT) and is recognised as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Dr Ghaffar earned his PhD in sustainable construction products, specialising in material science and engineering applications, from Brunel University London. He is the leader of the Additive Manufacturing Technology in Construction (AMTC) research group where primary focus lies in advancing 3D printing technologies with an emphasis on utilising construction and demolition waste alongside low-carbon binders. He has been successful in attracting research grants of circa £6M on 8 projects funded by various organisations including European Commission. He recently edited a book titled Innovation in Construction: A Practical Guide to Transforming the Construction Industry.
