Sustainability Leader of the Year

This award recognises a leader (Manager or above) from the construction value chain who is a pioneer and role model for ESG initiatives and processes. Each shortlisted candidate has demonstrated how they have successfully enhanced their organisation’s approach to strategy, planning and management of ESG initiatives in AEC projects or processes. They have a track record of success and have led the implementation of at least one initiative. Entries are open to contractors, consultants, developers or project owners in the built environment.

Alfonso Senatore

Sports Boulevard Foundation

Alfonso Senatore is an award-winning sustainability executive with over 27 years of international experience delivering net-zero and sustainable developments across Europe, the Middle East, South America and Asia.

Since 2023, Alfonso has served as Sustainability Senior Vice President at Sports Boulevard Foundation (SBF), where he established and leads the Sustainability Department, driving corporate and site-wide ESG strategy across one of the region’s most ambitious urban regeneration projects.

A Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Sustainability Professional, Alfonso embeds internationally recognised standards, carbon management systems and governance discipline into investment decisions, procurement frameworks and operations. Under his leadership, SBF’s 2024 ESG Annual Report achieved full alignment with the GRI Standards, earning the GRI Mark and setting a new benchmark among Saudi giga-projects.

His portfolio includes landmark developments such as King Abdullah Financial District, Bloomberg’s European HQ (BREEAM Outstanding), Aspire Tower and Guangzhou International Finance Centre. Previously holding senior sustainability roles at NEOM – The Line, he has been recognised by USGBC, UNESCO and the International WELL Building Institute.

A graduate of Stanford University’s Strategic Chief Sustainability Officer Program and the University of Cambridge, Alfonso combines global expertise with strategic foresight to position ESG as a driver of resilience, innovation and long-term value creation.

Ali K. Al-Nuaimi

Saudi Aramco – Projects Management Team

Ali K. Al-Nuaimi is a sustainability-focused project leader within Saudi Aramco’s Special Kingdom Projects Department, serving as Project Senior Engineer on the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) since February 2021.

He plays a pivotal role in delivering one of the world’s largest integrated energy and industrial developments while embedding Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into core project delivery.

Ali oversees multiple fast-track construction packages under challenging site and environmental conditions, ensuring sustainability, safety, cost, and quality objectives are achieved concurrently. His leadership promotes early integration of sustainable design, responsible resource management, and strong governance, positioning ESG as a value driver rather than a compliance obligation.

Prior to SPARK, Ali served as Project Engineer for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Pavilion at EXPO 2020 Dubai, where he led multidisciplinary teams through the design, procurement, and construction of complex engineered systems. He successfully delivered nine high-profile technology exhibits under an accelerated schedule, achieving exceptional quality while maintaining budget and schedule discipline.

Ali has consistently shown strong sustainability leadership across projects by reducing environmental impact, improving safety, and aligning stakeholders. He effectively turns corporate sustainability goals into actionable results, delivering large-scale projects that meet global standards and create lasting environmental and social value.

Ana W. Hudson

King Salman Park Foundation

As Executive Director of Sustainability and Environment at King Salman Park Foundation (KSPF), Ana Hudson is shaping one of the world’s most ambitious urban transformations, converting a former airbase into a 17 sq km green heart for Riyadh. By embedding ESG principles as fundamental design and operational drivers, she is positioning King Salman Park as a global reference for sustainable development in arid and climate-stressed cities.

Ana established a unified sustainability vision and framework that places biodiversity restoration, microclimate cooling, long-term resource efficiency, and community engagement at the core of the project.

Landscape functions as natural infrastructure, while buildings and public spaces operate as part of a living urban ecosystem shaped by climate, ecology, and human behaviour. This systems-first approach embeds comfort, identity, and resilience into the urban fabric, delivering lasting environmental performance and social value.

A recognised sustainability pioneer, Ana has advanced sustainable standards across the United States, Brazil, and the Middle East, contributing to early green building frameworks and leading the first LEED for Cities Platinum certification in Saudi Arabia. Her multidisciplinary, international experience demonstrates how visionary ESG thinking can shape the future of metropolitan development.

Anas Gahshan

Kaizen Asset Management Services

Anas Gahshan is a sustainability and built-environment leader recognised for converting ESG ambition into measurable commercial, environmental, and social outcomes across large real-estate portfolios in the UAE. With more than 14 years of leadership in asset management, facilities management, and sustainability, he has delivered transformation at scale while aligning operations with national and global climate objectives.

As Director of Engineering & Sustainability at Kaizen Asset Management Services, Anas led the design and execution of a portfolio-wide ESG and decarbonisation strategy across more than 250 residential and mixed-use communities. Over the last 24 months, these initiatives delivered more than 15.2 million kWh in energy savings, reduced over 10,000 metric tonnes of CO₂ across Scope 1–3 emissions, and generated AED 6.7 million in verified operational savings through structured energy management, smart building technologies, IoT integration, and performance-based asset optimisation aligned with the Kaizen Sustainability Strategy 2022–2030.

He also pioneered circular-economy programmes, recovering more than 2.5 million kg of recyclables, expanded EV-charging infrastructure across 75+ communities, and implemented real-time indoor air-quality monitoring across 90 projects, contributing to 95% resident satisfaction and a Net Promoter Score of +47.

Beyond operations, Anas co-developed the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction’s Real Estate Risk Resilience Tool, the first of its kind.

Atam Hayat

Atam Hayat has emerged as a pioneering force in the MEP and building services sector, blending technical expertise, sustainability vision, and industry leadership.

As an active leader within CIBSE UAE, he has driven transformative initiatives, from updating embodied carbon guidance to promoting energy efficiency standards and decarbonisation strategies. His engagement in CIBSE student design competitions, workshops, and technical committees has inspired and mentored the next generation of engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and sustainable thinking across the region.

Over the past 24 months, Atam has led more than 50 high-impact retrofit and new-build projects, including Unilever UAE, Al Khail Avenue Mall, and Masdar’s ‘The Link’, achieving 18.4k tons of carbon emission reductions and substantial energy savings.

By integrating advanced digital tools, IoT-enabled monitoring, and energy-efficient systems, he has consistently delivered measurable environmental and operational benefits for clients. Recognised as CIBSE Executive of the Year, Atam combines strategic foresight with hands-on execution, embedding sustainable practices and data-driven solutions across every project.

Dr Samiullah Khan

Fakhruddin

Chief Sustainability Officer Dr Samiullah Khan is a sustainability leader within the built environment, recognised for championing and delivering transformative ESG initiatives across real estate development, facilities management, and community operations.

He has embedded sustainability into corporate strategy, asset planning, and operational execution - ensuring alignment with the UAE Net Zero 2050 agenda, circular economy policies, and global decarbonisation frameworks.

Within the last 24 months, Dr Khan has led landmark initiatives including the 90:90 Waste Management Initiative, Dubai’s first in-building system diverting up to 90% of waste from landfill, and the Maliha Dairy Thermal Energy Storage Project, supporting national food security while reducing peak energy demand and operational emissions.

His leadership directly enabled Treppan Hotel & Suites to achieve LEED Gold certification, driven by high-performance MEP systems, water efficiency strategies, and advanced indoor air quality solutions.

He is certified by MIT (USA) in Innovation and Design Thinking, Cambridge - Net Zero, Harvard - Strategy and is patent holder of the Smart Air Handling Unit (SAHU - WO 2025/141592 AI ).

He is on the advisory board of multiple national and international Universities including, RIT Dubai.

Dr Khan consistently bridges engineering innovation with ESG governance, delivering measurable environmental, social, and business outcomes that are scalable, auditable, and commercially viable.

Seb Davies

Rider Levett Bucknall

Seb Davies, Director – Cost Management at Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), has led the roll-out of practical carbon-conscious cost management across the UAE and the wider region. Over the past 24 months he has launched RLB’s Middle East sustainability services, established a specialist internal ‘Green Team’, and helped embed carbon measurement into early cost planning so clients can make informed choices when design decisions have the biggest impact.

Seb’s leadership connects ESG ambition to commercial reality – aligning carbon and cost, supporting national climate commitments and client ESG reporting, and building capability across teams and partners. He also represents RLB at the Emirates Green Building Council, sharing best practice and accelerating the adoption of measurable, data-led sustainable construction.
